SBIR Requirements

• Small business with <500 employees
• 51% US owned and operated
• Principal investigator employed by company

STTR Requirements

• Partnership with research institution required
• 40% work by small business, 30% by institution
• PI can be from either organization

Funding Phases

Phase I

$50K-$275K for 6-12 months of feasibility research

Phase II

$750K-$1.5M for 2 years of development

Commercialization with non-SBIR funding
